Conference calls

I am sure most of you have the new Vodafone India advertisement about the conference call facility. I have been seeing it for a few times a day now. I wouldn't rate it as a good ad but among the slapstick ads. Strangely enough while I was having lunch today I could see a sense of parallelism between my everyday life and this ad. Does it ring a bell anywhere? Guys....conf calls....still doesn't sound familiar. Many of us have attended numerous conference calls during a course of a project. Looking at this ad I could see myself as the guy trying to wear a tie and after hours of jabbing into the microphone and after numerous arguments I have ended the call without a solution. Thats is what most conference calls are - stupid ways to solve a problem are presented, evaluated, improved and then rejected. The call companies are the ones who laugh all the way to the bank like the fat bum in the Vodafone ad.

To cut the long story short - in most cases I have found conf calls to be of very little value. They are effective only when used judiciously with a proper agenda and great moderation.
